Photography is writing with light!
Gert Kist is a Dutch photographer born May 5, 1963 in Amsterdam.
In 2013 he made a name for himself at Galerie Eduard Planting, with his male images printed on weathered wooden substrates.
Recently, photography artist Kist has gone through a period of development and transition. His subject matter has shifted and his photos have since become more layered – both figuratively and literally. A clear shift in emphasis can be seen in the new series of women’s portraits. The attention in Kist’s work is no longer limited to the male torso, but now focuses on female faces that seem to want to express or hide something. Dashing women who wear extravagant costumes, jewellery, hairstyles and masks. Something is happening in these female portraits. The spectator can only guess, become intrigued and involved.
